Snow Day, Yuck!

Why can't spring get here already? I don't deal with cold weather very well, and I am ready for warmer temperatures to be here for good. Anyways, it snowed today in Memphis. Here are some photos of it in our courtyard and in the back with Daisy.
Here are some essentials helping me make it through this gross day!
Red Wine, Girl Scout Cookies, Tomato Soup, and Grilled Cheese( not shown)

Here is a video of daisy running around in the snow. She ended up being too concerned about me filming to keep playing though.

Muddy's Is Trying To Blimp Me Up!

Does everyone know that I can literally see Muddy's Bake Shop from my station at work? The temptation is unbearable. Not only do I cave about three times (or more) a week and get a cupcake or toffee bar , but usually one of my clients brings me in something at least once a week. Add it up. That's at least four treats a week! That also doesn't include the random snickers bar or Chik-fil-a milkshake I make Greg bring home to me. It's a wonder I'm not in a diabetic comma this very moment. Is there a support /rehab group for sweetsaholics?
If anyone has not been to Muddy's yet please join in my sickness. It's heaven in a cupcake!!!!

Not Meant as a Gift List

It has been brought to my attention, by my Mom and Greg, that the things I want post could be viewed as tacky. Just to be clear this was not my birthday list, but rather just things that I've seen on line while web window shopping. I in now way expect this stuff as gifts. Having said that, I'm sure there will be lots of posts with photos of stuff that I think is cool or want. It's just in fun!

Thanks

I just wanted to tell my cousin Agnes thanks for checking in and signing up. We got the invite to Andrew's party, and we're super excited. I'm going to call you tomorrow to properly RSVP. I can't believe that Andrew is already turning one!

Sorry, I'm still trying to figure out how all this works. Eventually I'll be able to do longer entries with pictures without having to break them up. Please make sure you join as a follower, and also you can comment on entry by clicking on "comments" at the end of the it. Thank you Mom, Marcy, and Greg for signing up!

I have wanted a pair of these forever. My Daddy always wore these in black when I was growing up.

Things I Want

My 29th birthday is coming up  on 3 11! Here are some the things I'm coveting right now that I wouldn't mind being gifted. I'm even being budgetary since we're in a recession/depression!

Urban Outfitters

I need a pair of black flat sandals because mine from last year got lost somehow. Oopsy!

J Crew

I have these from last year in several colors and wear them all the time. I'm sure I'll get even more wear out of these more neutral since mine from last year are brighter colors.

Greg Really is Ill

OK, I  really feel bad now. Greg went to the doctor today and found  out he has pneumonia. She actually told him that if he didn't get in today or tomorrow he would of had to be hospitalized. He had to get a shot and like three medications. Poor Greg. I got him o.j., chicken soup, and popsicles to help nurse him back to health. He has to stay home from school and work for the rest of the week. That will make him feel way worse than pneumonia ever could. I'll keep you updated on his recovery.

Greg's Birthday Made Him Sick

Greg's 35th birthday was Saturday. I surprised him by having his friends Brian, Chase, and Jonathan come in town Saturday afternoon. I bought us tickets to The Derek Trucks Band at The New Daisy on Beale for that night. My friend Marcy also ended up coming in town from Martin,TN and going with us. We had entirely too much fun, probably due to starting way to early. Most of the shows at the Daisy are apparently now all ages and therefor start at 8pm. It's one thing if you're going to a concert to go that early, but to see a band in a bar style venue that's not good. I just didn't know how to pace my party for that. I truly meant to to take some photos that night. I remembered my camera and everything, but unfortunately I didn't pull it out of my purse until the end of the night after many cocktails and shots ( I never do shots; what was I thinking?). So the only photo I'm posting is one of Marcy and me at Red Rooster looking pretty rough. I figured ya'll wouldn't want to see the shots I took of the floor or backs of people's heads. Sorry, I didn't even get a single one of Greg.

So now this morning Greg is at the doctor's because he is sick. He says his chest hurts, or in boy terms "he is having a heart attack". It's more likely a Marlboro ultra-light attack. I'll let everyone know later what the doctor says. Birthdays always make us sick.

Thanks everyone for coming in town to help us celebrate! I know it really meant a lot to Greg.

Our Family has Shrunk

In case everyone hasn't heard, our little family of four is now three. On Jan. 17th our Charlie lost his battle with bladder cancer. This came way sooner than we expected. We had gotten a prognosis of 6 months, Dec. 2nd, at the time of diagnosis. We had him on the only medication they thought could slow the cancer, but it was just too strong. The masses completely blocked his bladder, and he was no longer able to urinate. He was happy and him self to the end playing with us and his grandparents up until the vet gave him the injection. This was the hardest thing I've had to do in my life, but I'm so glad I have Greg to help me.
We miss you Charlie, and we'll never forget your sweet heart.

My First Blog!

I'm so excited to be starting my blog! I've been watching a blog of a girl I graduated with and decided it was something I would like to do. As we get older and busier we keep up with our friends and family less and less. I thought this would be a good way of letting them know what's going on in our lives, and in turn hope that they let us know what's going on in their lives. I thought a blog is a little more grown up than My Space or Facebook (which as some of you know I've always thought to be a bit embarrassing for people over 25, sorry).

The title of my blog may need to be explained. When Greg and I married I keep my own name. Some people have been living in a cave through the feminist movement, so we have encountered a lot of funny questions about this. Here are some:
Q: Is that legal?
A: Your last name doesn't automatically change. You have to legally change if you choose to.
Q: Did your husband let you do that?
A: You stupid @$#!& I didn't ask permission!
And the most common
Q: What last name will your kids have?
A: We'll just combine Mangrum and Davis into Manvis or Dangrum. This usually shuts up the          person who is dumb enough to think we're serious.

This also shows me what people with children already know. People feel they have the right to inflict their opinion onto our now non-existent children and parenting. I can't wait for when we actually have kids so I can get all that great advice from complete strangers or insignificant acquaintances.
